Disabuse w/ Uhgah Wugah, Exploded & Dead Head

On November the 5th I went to the Baroeg for the performance of Disabuse. The band celebrated their 30th anniversary with a 30th anniversary show. They didn’t forget the Baroeg on their tour schedule. During this day they shared the stage with Uhgah Wugah, Exploded and Dead Head. A heavy package of metal. We, from Dutch Brutal were present as well to report back to you.

At 4 o’ clock in the afternoon Uhgah Wugah kicked off the event in the Baroeg. Uhgah Wugah is a three headed punk/thrashcore band from Groningen. An act waking us all up right from the beginning with their heavy punk/thrashcore/metal sound. Aside from this I’m not that familiar with their music but it was a good opening act for sure.

After Uhgah Wugah it was time for Exploded. For this band it was like playing at home, as they often play gigs in Rotterdam. We understood they’re quite proud of that as well. Exploded brought a heavy dose of metal to the venue. With a sound that reminds of Sepultura, Annihilator, Slayer, Kreator and Exodus. From this package of inspiration they have their own unique sound with good screams nonetheless. The gentlemen managed to fill the entire 40 minutes with classics from their catalogue. Unfortunately this was the last show with frontman Eric on board. Still, they turned the Baroeg upside down and put on a show to remember.

At around 6 it was finally time for Disabuse. Time to share their 30th anniversary in the Baroeg with the crowd from Rotterdam while also presenting their new album Death Machine. The gentlemen brought a heavy setlist to the ears of the people and of course they also played some new music. The crowd seemed to like the new sound and had a good evening. Aside from the new stuff they played some older songs as well which made for a good show. I wasn’t that familiar with Disabuse’s music before this show, I only got to know them because of my other colleagues at Dutch Brutal. They asked us to attend a show a while ago and that’s how I kind of found out about their anniversary in the Baroeg. I was curious and figured I’d see them for myself. I have to say I was blown away by their tight energetic stoner/thrash/crossover and hardcore sound. It seemed like the rest of the crowd felt the same way.

I missed out on the headlining show from Dead Head. I came to review Disabuse’s show and had to go after.
